本季中華職棒各隊打擊群凶猛，但中信兄弟鄭凱文卻能連3戰完投勝、連2戰完封勝，他是怎麼辦做到的？鄭凱文7日說其實沒有太多的改變，主要就是投出速差。
鄭凱文季初跟各隊投手一樣，也經常被打擊群砲擊，5月2日對統一獅先發5.2局失6分，吞敗投，防禦率飆高到4.96，不過經過這一戰之後，鄭凱文作了一些修正，5月24日對義大犀牛之戰，鄭凱文完投9局只失1分，接下來2戰，都是完封勝，締造了難能可貴的成績，現在鄭凱文不僅8勝，與Lamigo桃猿蘭斯佛並列最多勝，防禦率2.89也進入了領先群。
中信兄弟總教練吳復連說鄭凱文是名很認真的球員，會勤作筆記，懂得自我思考與檢討，統一獅總教練陳連宏也說鄭凱文的控球具一定水準，球速或許不是很快，但他會把球投到不好打的位置，讓打者很難掌握。
鄭凱文則認為日籍投手教練養父鐵對球隊的幫助很大，他說養父鐵一再強調，要有一顆慢的變化球，要投出速差，不要讓打者太容易掌握擊球點，因此，若要說有什麼改變，就是多投一顆慢速曲球，盡量投出速差。
鄭凱文也說，今年投完比賽，隔天就會立即與養父鐵討論與檢討，可以讓自己很快地知道自己的一些缺失，這也是今年與去年很大不同之處。
鄭凱文現在是連2場完封勝，下一戰將挑戰統一獅前投手曹竣崵保持連3戰完封勝的中職紀錄，對手應是打擊最強悍的桃猿，鄭凱文將面臨更嚴厲的考驗。
